Willie James Eason, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Memorial Service. The Rev. Carroll Bradbury will officiate. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
A native of Greene County, he had been a resident of Wilson for his adult life. He lived in and loved the small community of Spit Head and he was lovingly referred to as the mayor of Spit Head. He was the son of the late Gladys and J.C. Eason. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Louise Eason Harrington and a special cousin, Patricia Bradbury.
Willie was a loyal employee of S.T. Wooten Corporation for 55 years working in the highway division and had retired just last June. He enjoyed many years in the Wilson Singles Club where he spent many hours of fun and fellowship with members of the club. Willie’s great personality and sense of humor immediately endeared him to people with whom he had contact. He left a smile and a wonderful memory with everyone. His physician and staff looked forward to his appointments because he always had an edible treat for everyone. He was loved and will be remembered for his ability to make life fun and to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed by many.
Surviving is his sister, Kay Toffton (Ricky) of Battleboro; brothers, Bobby Eason (Eloise) of Edgecombe County, Kenneth Eason (Barbara) and Russell Eason (Connie), all of Wilson, and Ray Eason of Taswell, Tenn.; many loving nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; cousins; two aunts; and three uncles.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service tonight from 6 to 7:30 and other times at the home of Russell Eason, 4335 Merck Road, Wilson.
