Virginia Elaine Clifton Hedgecock

SMITHFIELD — Mrs. Virginia Elaine Clifton Hedgecock, 63, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

“We have lost our guardian angel. We were so blessed to have had her love and guidance in our lives. She touched the lives of all around her, and left a footprint on the hearts of many. She will always be loved and missed. Our angel now has her wings.”

Mrs. Hedgecock is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jerry Bruce Hedgecock; a daughter, Angela Marlow Thorpe and her husband, Christopher, of Smithfield; three sons, Allan Bruce Hedgecock and girlfriend, Teresa Owens, of Clayton, Kevin Ray Hedgecock and his wife, Jerry Lee, of Smithfield, David Wayne Hedgecock of Clayton; a sister, Christine Crow of Dixon, Tenn.; three brothers, Alvin Leonard Clifton and Ronald Clifton, both of Charleston, S.C., Billy Clifton of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Aaron Lee Hedgecock, Ashley Peyton Hedgecock, Andrew Cody Hedgecock, Phenoix Wayne Davis, Chandler William Marlow, Braedon Wallace Thorpe, Sondi Jones Hoffman, Jamie Kirk Jones, Tyler Lee Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Erich Kirkland Hoffman and Gillian Lorraine Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held today, 3 p.m., at Wilson Mills Baptist Church. The Rev. Billy Lawson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
