ROCKY MOUNT — Thomas “Red” Guy Pridgen Sr., 93, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. He was born Dec. 24, 1918, son of Jesse Jones Pridgen and Mary Moore Pridgen.

“Red” was a life member of DAV Chapter, the American Legion and VFW 2057. He was also an active member of Sunset Baptist Church.

Mr. Pridgen is survived by his wife of 70 plus years, Thelma Lamm Pridgen; two daughters, Paulette Pridgen and Mary Leigh Wood and husband, Tommy; one son, Anthony Pridgen, all of Rocky Mount; brothers, Clyde Pridgen of Rocky Mount and Bunyon Pridgen of Winterville; grandchildren, Paul and Shannon Robbins of Durham, Jeff Wood of Rocky Mount, Ashleigh Wood Weir of Farmville and Marie Pridgen; and nine great-grandchildren.

“Red” was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Guy Pridgen Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, in the Chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. Pastor Robin Fisher will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Committal will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will also receive friends and relatives at the home of his daughter, Mary Leigh Wood.
