CHARLOTTE — Samuel Walter Pridgen, 78, died Feb. 3, 2012.
He was born Oct. 21, 1934 in Wilson County and resided in Charlotte for many years.
Sam graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) and taught high school math in the public schools. He later retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Morrison and Julia Daniel Pridgen; sister, Lula Daniel Pridgen; and brother-in-law, Roger Philyaw.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Greene Pridgen; daughters, Lynne Pridgen Johnson (Roger) and Julia Pridgen Bullard; grandson, Cody Davis Johnson; sister, Julia Ann Pridgen Philyaw; brother, Mark Davis Pridgen (Kay); and stepdaughters, Jill Sarkozy and Kristie Rigsbee.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 109 Marrow Ave., Monroe.
Memorials may be given in Sam’s name to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 5326 London Church Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
