Robert Bradley Eagles, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., in Eagles Family Plot, Maplewood Cemetery, Old Section.
A Wilson native, he was son of the late Benjamin F. and Melishia Demuth Eagles. He graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in 1944 and served two years in the European Theater in World War II. He returned to graduate from North Carolina State University in 1950.
The majority of his adult life was spent in the Edgecombe County village of Crisp, where he was associated with the family farming and mercantile operations. Through the years he served on a number of Edgecombe County agricultural boards and committees. A loyal member and leader of Eagles Baptist Church, he served as superintendent of Sunday school and as chairman of the board of deacons. His proudest accomplishment was his educational mentoring and financial assistance to a number of young people in his community.
He is survived by his brother, Frank L. Eagles (Dorothy), of Wilson; his nephews, Benjamin L. Eagles (Ginny), Bradley B. Eagles, H.C. “Toby” Moss Jr. (Mary), all of Wilson, William Eagles Moss (Patti) of Raleigh, Joseph E. Eagles Jr. (Peggy), of Pinetops; and his niece, Jacqueline Eagles Pechmann of Fayetteville.
The family will be at 2204 Canal Drive, from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday.
