James Pierce

James Robert Pierce, 74, of Goldsboro passed away on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
James was born in Wilson County on Dec. 6, 1935, to the late Linwood Earl Pierce and Retha Rebecca Johnson. He had worked over 47 years as a truck driver and was self-employed. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. David Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park.
James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Daniel Pierce; his sons, Robbie Glenn Pierce and wife, Karen, of West Covina, California; Kevin Ray Pierce and wife, Tamara of Marshville, Missouri; two brothers, Donnie Earl Pierce of Goldsboro and Jackie Paul Pierce of Wilson; six grandchildren, Stephanie Westbrook, Eric Westbrook, Jessica Hite, Jonathan Pierce, Matthew Pierce and Christina Pierce; and one great-grandchild, Caroline Westbrook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 300 Country Day Road, Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 2 p.m. and at other times at his home, 347 Combs Road, Goldsboro.
