James Phillip Lewis Jr., 48, of Ridgeview Lane, Bassett, Va., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Lewis was born May 26, 1964, in Wilson, N.C., to James P. Lewis Sr. and Betty Lamm Lewis. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of National College with an Associate degree in Science. He had worked as a maintenance technician I at Time Warner for 22 years. He was a Red Cross instructor and a member of the Ridgeway Fire Department. He served as a Boy Scout troop leader in Wilson, where he had also attained the status of Eagle Scout.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Rhonda Lynn Lewis, of Bassett, one son, Joshua Phillip Lewis, of Wilson and three grandchildren, Amira Shahriar of Bassett, and Makala Lewis and Natalie Walters of Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at Atlantic Beach, N.C., at a later date.
