GOLDSBORO — James Cleveland Jones, 83, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Jimmy and Hazel Talton Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Jones and Kenneth Jones.
He was the owner of James Jones Trucking.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jones will be held Tuesday, 6 p.m., at the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Jenny Bass, 358 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Grace Capps Jones; his children and their spouses, Sylvia and Dwight Bass, Ronnie and Teresa Jones, Jenny Lou and Danny Bass, Kay and Ralph Lawhorn and John and Becky Jones; a brother, Ralph Jones; a sister, Lucille J. Whaley; eight grandchildren, Renee Sweet, Brandon Bass, Vickie Joyner, Chris Bass, T.J. Bass, Edward Lawhorn, Dexter Lawhorn, Clay Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Amber Game, Drew Sweet, Morgan Grace Bass, Landon Bass, Chase Joyner, Chandler Joyner, Logan Lawhorn and Alyssa Lawhorn.
