WILLIAMSTON — Gordon Slade Peele, 72, of Smithwick Creek Church Road, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home. He was born in Martin County May 26, 1939 to the late George Edwin and Lillian Capps Peele.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grimes Peele; and a sister, Mandy Lou Peele.
Gordon was a retired service technician with Sears. He was a member of Macedonia Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Macedonia Christian Church by the Rev. Greg Sexton and the Rev. Dolan Baker officiating. Burial did follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Speller Peele of the home; daughters, Sherrie P. Varney and husband, Daryl, of Sims, Terry Roberson and Wendy Moore, both of Williamston; sisters, Gladys Tice of Greenville and Lucy Wynne of Williamston; “Pa’s” grandchildren, Tanner Moore, Leah Moore, Kaylee Varney and Thomas Roberson.
The family received friends at Macedonia Christian Church from 2 until 3:30 p.m., prior to the service Sunday, May 20th.
