MATTHEWS — Edwin Carl Thorne, 90, died Sunday. He was formerly of Elm City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Gardner Thorne, formerly of Saratoga; two sons; local survivors are two sisters, Annie T. Joyner and husband, Joe I. and Lula T. Moehrbach and husband, Ruby, both of Wilson.
