Dorothy Briggs, 55, of 4816 Glen Laurel Road, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Wilson Medical Center.
Loving memories are forever cherished by her mother, Mittie Briggs of Wilson; four children, Eugene Briggs (LaShanda), and Linwood Briggs, all of Wilson, Jonathan Fleming and Caitlin Dock, both of the home; seven grandchildren, including Jyrel Briggs, whom she reared; three sisters, Thelma Harris of Stantonsburg, Mary Melton and Judy Langston (James), all of Wilson; six brothers, Leroy Fleming, George Briggs, Andrew Briggs (Avis Marie), Lorenzo Briggs (Jean), Bruce Briggs, and Junie Briggs (Connie), all of Wilson; one guardian sister, Joyce Taylor of Wilson; one guardian brother, Douglas Fleming of Wilson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other special relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Burning Bush Free Will Baptist Church, 6484 Speight School Road. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext. Bishop Donnie Hugh Daniels will officiate.
A public viewing will take place Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. SW. The family will receive friends at the residence of her mother, Ms. Mittie Briggs of 5035 White Oak Loop, where they will also assemble one hour prior to the funeral service in preparation of the funeral procession.
