Doris Lee Taylor Shepard, 82, of Wilson died Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Warren, the Rev. Bill Presnell and the Rev. Dan Jones will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6–8 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and at other times at 1908 Canal Drive NW.
Doris was a member of First United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school for many years and had been a member of the Bradshaw Class.
She loved children and taught at Wells School for 39 years.
Mrs. Shepard is survived by her husband, Warren C. “Shep” Shepard; a daughter, Scarlett St. Angelo and husband, Edward, of Bristol, R.I., a granddaughter, Kara Cabassa of Newport, R.I.; and two sisters-in-law, Hilda Taylor of Jasper, Fla. and Julia Mitchell of Emerald Isle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jolly and Annie Mae Taylor; a brother, Joseph E. Taylor; and son, Cal Shepard.
