Conner Wayne Combs passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and father on Friday, May 4 at Duke University Hospital. He was born just hours earlier on Thursday, May 3 at 10:51 a.m. and went to be with the Lord at 1:19 a.m. the following morning.
Conner is survived by his mother, Caroline Boyd Combs, and father, Stephen Andrew Combs. He is the grandson of Wayne and Gail Boyd (Caroline’s parents) and Gary and Robin Combs (Stephen’s parents). The Combs family received immense support from their parents, siblings and Wilson Community Church family.
His birth was a miraculous story in which his mother’s membranes ruptured prematurely just 18 weeks into the pregnancy and somehow had not gone into labor until Thursday, when she gave birth at exactly 26 weeks gestation. Conner had a strong heart, but his lungs were not developed enough.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Community Church, 2301 Montgomery Drive, Wilson, N.C. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wilson Community Church with the Rev. Gary W. Combs officiating, a graveside service immediately following at Evergreen Memorial Park.
