ROBERSONVILLE — Charles Leon Wilson Jr., 86, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012. Born Aug. 18, 1926 in Robersonville, Charles was the son of the late Fannybel Roberson Wilson and the late Charles Leon Wilson.
A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Charles was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force and returned to Robersonville, working in the family building supply business and then farming for over 20 years. He was a member of the Robersonville Vol. Fire Department for over 32 years, retiring as assistant fire chief, and was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Robersonville, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at First Christian Church in Robersonville. Burial will follow at the Robersonville Cemetary. The family will receive friends at Biggs Funeral Home, Robersonville, tonight from 6 – 8.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Little Wilson; and their children, Charles Leon Wilson III and his wife, Emma Jean, of Wilson, Matthew Mayo Wilson and his wife, Fran, of Raleigh, and Dee Wilson Loop and her husband, David, of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight wonderful, loving grandchildren, Charles Leon Wilson IV and his wife, Anna Marshall, of Raleigh, Louis Vanderford Wilson of Washington, Robert Bailey Wilson of Wilson, Thomas Mayo Wilson and Bailey Louise Wilson, both of Raleigh, Ann Leighton Loop, Elizabeth Mayo Loop and Mariah Wilson Loop, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Claude Roberson Wilson and Robert Benjamin Wilson and their wives, Janice and Elva; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by their daughter, Ann Roberson Wilson; sister, Louise Wilson Ely and a brother-in-law, Bill Ely, and their son, Bob.
