SPRING HOPE — Charles Douglas Long, 88, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012. He was born May 1, 1924 in Nash County to the late Avery C. and Effie Sherrod Long.
Mr. Long was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles farmed his family farm for most of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Pershing Long and a sister, Gertrude Cooper.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Doris Skinner Long; son, K. Douglas Long and wife, Kay; daughter, Janice Long Daniels and husband, Allen; three sisters, Virginia Winstead, Myrtie Davis and Thula Winstead; four grandchildren, Lori Long Bradbury and husband, Wayne, Elizabeth, Joseph and Jonathan Daniels; and great-grandchild, Olivia Bradbury.
Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Forest Hill Cemetery of Nashville.
