Bobby Glenn Abrams, 70, of Wilson died Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Church, Wilson. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Russell, the Rev. Brian Tippett, and the Rev. J. W. Long will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Pkwy. and other times at 1519 Branch Street.
Bobby was born and raised on a farm in Edgecombe County and was a 1959 graduate of South Edgecombe High School. He was a graduate of Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn., Atlantic Christian College and UNC School of Law. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Bobby practiced law in Wilson since 1972. He was a longtime member of Peace Church of Wilson, where he taught Sunday School for 32 years. Bobby was a youth sports coach for many years and both an active and longtime member and board member of the Baseball Museum in Wilson. Bobby was an avid UNC, Dodgers, college baseball and pro golf fan. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was always present at his children's and grandchildren's events. Bobby was a mentor and role model for the entire family. He also loved his church family and courthouse family.
He is survived by his wife, Janice King Abrams; two sons, Stanley Glenn Abrams and wife, Carol, and Stephen P. Abrams; three granddaughters, Caroline Elizabeth Abrams, Anna Grace Abrams and Kaitlin Nichole Abrams; three grandsons, Jonathan Glenn Abrams, Stephen Michael Abrams and Christopher Philip Abrams, all of Wilson; three sisters, Eleanor Pat Clark and husband, Eason, of Belvoir, Emma Jean Abrams of Goldsboro, Sue Edna Stalls and husband, Wilson, of Hudson; three brothers, Donald Ray Abrams and wife, Loretta, of Oxford, Billy Herman Abrams and wife, Becky, of Durham and Douglas Carl Abrams and wife, Linda, of Greenville, S.C. and several well loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Era Glenn and Edna Louise Harrell Abrams; a sister, Phyllis Ann Burgess; and a brother, Joseph Era Abrams.
