EDENTON — Alton G. “Tunney” Brooks, 84, formerly of Lumberton, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton. He was born in Nash County June 28, 1927 to the late Wade Ruffin Brooks and the late Bronna Bray Brooks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys “Frances” Brooks.
Mr. Brooks is survived by two sons, Richie Brooks and wife, Carol, of Lumberton, and John Brooks and wife, Sherri, of Easley, S.C.; one daughter, Debbie Morris and husband, Enoch, of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Ellen Deans of Wilson; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Thursday, 4 p.m., at Lumberton High School Gymnasium.
A graveside service will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
